Wilpattu National Park Memorial

A simple memorial to Department of Wildlife Conservation personnel who were killed by the LTTE, on May 14th 1985. Park Warden Wasantha Pushpananda, under whose stewardship the memorial was erected and opened on March 8th 2005, was himself ambushed and killed by the LTTE, along with seven others, while on an inspection tour of the park, on March 9th 2007.
