This artful center offering exhibits of traditional Sri Lankan string puppets, plus performances.This Puppet Art Museum was founded by Mr.Sarath Abegunawardana. He is not a puppet artist, but he loved this art and wanted to preserve this great traditional art to the next generation.There are few galleries in this museum and all are nicely maintained. First gallery is dedicated to “Diktala Kalagola” story. Other galleries explain the stories about Madduma Bandara, Vidura Jathakaya, Wessanthara Jathakaya and Saliya Aspkamala story,The Puppet art Museum has a special gallery for traditional masks which were done by artists from Ambalangoda. Those masks includes King Mahasammatha (the first king of the world), Maname masks, Daha ata Sanniya masks, Garayaka and many other.They also have a mini theater where some puppet shows taken place.
