Katharagama Museum

Uva Province

Multi-religious history of the city and its surrounding area. It includes a collection of Hindhu and Buddhist religious items as well as huge fiberglass replicas of statues from around Sri Lanka. Aim of the museum is to preserve and exhibit the heritage of ancient Ruhunu kingdom for future generation and educate the public. As Katharagama shrine is venerated by Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Veddah communities, this museum consists of objects which demonstrate multicultural heritage.
