ACCESS TO FUTURES OF CRITICAL LEARNING  (AFCL)

The Access to Futures of Critical Learning (AFCL) programme at CHDM at its core has the intention of providing learning and training opportunities, and training material for students, teachers and the general public to engage in critical approaches to history. Centered in an interdisciplinary approach from history pedagogy, public history, museums and site-based learning, the philosophy that grounds the work intends to give an eclectic foundation.

CHDM acknowledges that history education happens at all levels of life, from the home environment, to national curricular, media and alternative sources. Hence our related activities also employ a variety of approaches intersecting with other work areas of CHDM such as museums and archives.

CHDM fosters a Community of Practice of history teachers and educators in Sri lanka that feed into all aspects of our work in developing material, providing feedback and engaging with each other across boundaries to share teaching practice and resources.

What do we offer

  • Trainings for history teachers
