Sixty eight Sinhala civilians, including many school children and a few infants, from various villages in the Kebethigollewa region were killed by a LTTE claymore attack on the bus in which they were travelling, on June 15th 2006.
A building of a bus stand was begun in 2010 by the Pradeshiya Sabhawa to commemorate this massacre, but it was never completed.
